First the good.
Captaindash.com
This site is a graphics heavy, yet easy on the eyes site that offers to organize your data. The homepage has links to pages explaining what problems they solve, what the product is, what the company is, a way to contact the company, and links to social media. Clicking the link labeled Captain Dash on the left hand side brings you back to the homepage on all the other pages of the website.
Ryanbucko.com
This is a easy to navigate site showing what a particular person has to offer. The first page tells you what you should expect from the whole site, and there is no surprises as you go through. This site is basically an online portfolio, and does not have much more than accomplished work. Ryan Bucko's phone number and link to email is on the first page, and is in the same spot on every page on the website. Clicking his name on the left top corner takes you back to the first page. His name has the largest type and is in the right position for someone to expect that clicking it would bring them back to the homepage.
17th.com
This is another site that is easy to navigate. The homepage tells you the name of the studio the website represents, and a neat paragraph tells you what is on the website. Clearly marked links to 'About', the portfolio, and contact information lights up building graphics when you roll over them. The whole site is easy to figure out except a few things. Some of the building graphics light up when you roll over them, but they don't take you anywhere if you click them. Clicking the header 'Seventeenth Street Studios' does not take you back to the home page, but clicking the most highlighted building graphic does.
Then the bad.
Trendlines.ca
This site is hard on the eyes. There is little sense of hierarchy for where I should look to first, and there is many little things and links all over the homepage. I found a link to the 'about us' page at the top of the homepage among many little links. It took me a while to find out if there is a link to send me back to the home page. What I found was a small picture of E.T peeking behind what I presume is a closet door with a caption reading "looking for home?". The website also has many different colors that distracts the eye. There are links to social media but they are not grouped together. This website requires horizontal scrolling. Links to About, Contact, Media Access, and Speaking Engagements takes you to the same page. The information is there, but so are many pictures of the same man with either bananas or a moose head.
IKissYou.org
This site at first appears to be made by someone who want's to make their own equivalent to a myspace profile. It is one page with many pictures of the person who presumably owns the website and people who could be fans or friends. Besides pictures there are bits of information that the person wrote about himself. All links on the page leads to different websites. There is contact information for himself and his manager at the bottom of the page. The website does not do a good job showing why this person has a website and what he has to offer.
Shmarketing.co.uk
This site is more advanced than the first two bad websites, but still has major flaws. The homepage has an odd amount of space with nothing but the color purple. It is not easy to explore the website due to bad navigation. I am instructed to click on the circles to find out more about the site, but none of the circles are clearly marked and some of them do nothing but move around. All of the content of each page stays confined to the upper left side despite all of the extra room. I searched through the circles for a link to bring me back to the home page, but the real link is a the little logo below the group of circles.
This is the Necker Cube.
